QWOP is definitely not a sports game that makes you feel like a talented track and field athlete. You will be controlling a stupid puppet that is taking its first steps and your patience will be trained to an unbelievable degree.

Most tutorials recommend coordinating QW and OP smoothly. But let's be realistic, that's almost impossible for beginners. To truly master QWOP, you need unconventional tactics, also known as the art of crawling.
This is the easiest way to achieve long distances, even though you don't look like an athlete at all. This tactic takes advantage of the fact that QWOP is very difficult to fall backward into if your thighs are always in a split position.
Getting into position: As soon as the game starts, press and hold the W key to make QWOP spread its left leg out to the fullest extent. QWOP will lean slightly backward.
Stepping: At this point, your right leg is bent behind you. Press the P key repeatedly. This will extend your right lower leg, pushing your body forward slightly in a split position.
Repeat: Use only the P key. Press P... move... press P... move. Never release the W key.
Advantages: Extremely safe, very difficult to get Game Over. Disadvantages: Looks pathetic, and it will take you about 10 minutes to cover 10 meters. But hey, you're moving!
This tactic attempts to mimic a more realistic running motion by focusing on lifting the knee.
Leg Lift: Press W and O simultaneously. This lifts your left thigh and bends your right lower leg, preparing for a step. Your body will lean forward.
Landing: Before Qwop falls face down, press Q and P simultaneously. This will extend your left thigh to land and push your right thigh forward to prepare for the next step.
Repeat: Press rhythmically WO... QP... WO... QP.
This is for those already familiar with the game's physics and wanting to achieve high speed.
Building momentum: Press W to split your leg. Then, instead of using P to crawl, quickly press Q. Qwop will bounce up as your left thigh contracts strongly.
Gaining momentum: As soon as your body bounces up, coordinate W and P to extend your left leg to land while your right thigh is pushed forward.
Shifting weight: When your right foot lands, quickly press O to retract your right leg, preventing it from getting stuck on the ground.
